Highway Patrol detained 187 drunks

Asuncion, IP.- The Highway Patrol arrested 187 drivers who were intoxicated, out of a total of 3,397 breathalyzer tests carried out in controls throughout the country within the framework of the 2015 Summer Plan.

The inspectors of the Highway Inspectorate began this work from Sunday, January 25 to Saturday, January 31, through mobile patrols and the installation of checkpoints at strategic points on routes and branches within their jurisdiction.

In this regard, a total of 187 people were arrested this week for driving under the influence of alcohol nationwide.

On the other hand, since this Sunday, controls began on vehicles with expired temporary license plates ending in 01.

388 people were also arrested for driving without a driver’s license and municipal authorization for their vehicles, including minors driving vehicles and those who did not pass the breathalyzer test.

During these 7 days, 2,258 procedures were carried out for minor and serious violations of the General Road Traffic Regulations that are still in force.
