A suspect is still on the loose following a police chase on Highway 50 westbound on Monday followingnoon in Mirabel.
Just before 1 p.m., a police officer from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spotted a stolen vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. The vehicle had been stolen in Terrebonne earlier in the day.
“The SUV, which was traveling on Highway 15 North, immediately took the direction of Highway 50 westbound. He possibly collided with a heavy truck. After driving over a carpet of spikes, the suspect abandoned the SUV at kilometer 264 in the ditch on the right. He fled on foot,” said SQ spokeswoman Ève Brochu-Joubert.
The freeway was temporarily closed westbound and eastbound. A security perimeter has been erected. Despite the presence of a dog handler, the suspect has still not been found. The SQ did not give any details regarding it. The search has been suspended near the highway.
However, the investigation is continuing.
