Irish-bred Higher Truth defeated three German mares in Friday night’s Sheepshead Bay Stakes at Belmont Park racetrack in New York.
In the $200,000 race, the five-year-old Galileo daughter won start-finish under jockey Manuel Franco, kept improving and won easily and easily in the end.
In addition to the winner, trainer Chad Brown also provided second place, Virginia Joy, bred by the Auenquelle stud farm. Atomic Blonde, bred by Gestüt Karlshof and still co-owned by the Faust family, finished third ahead of Amazing Grace (breeder Dr. Christoph Berglar), who performed disappointingly this time. Atomic Blonde and Amazing Grace are coached by Christophe Clement.
Chad Brown 1.2, Christoph Clement 3.4 – Ireland 1, Germany 2.3.4 – that’s the combined result from New York.
