Initially scheduled for this Wednesday, November 6, 2024, the National Autonomous Union of Higher Education and Scientific Research (SNAESURS) announced the suspension of its strike slogan as of this Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
To find a definitive solution to the crisis which is undermining the higher education sector, the National Council for Social Dialogue (CNDS), initiated a meeting this Tuesday, bringing together executives from the CNDS, the Ministry of Higher Education as well as of the union.
The discussions revolved around the points of demand raised by the SNAESURS and resulted in the conditional suspension of the strike call.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to “the suspension of the strike slogan from Tuesday November 5, 2024, the establishment, under the aegis of the CNDS, of a monitoring committee for the treatment diligent of the two (02) other points of claim in accordance with the document of October 31, 2024 relating to the lifting of the suspension of the strike of July 18, 2023 of SNAESURS”, indicates the press release.
To continue the discussions, the President of the National Social Dialogue Council invited the parties concerned to a meeting on Friday November 8, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the headquarters of the Institution.
