High Speed Offenses: A Closer Look at Brussels Traffic Department’s 2nd Quarter 2023 Fines

2023-07-24 15:46:00

“During the second quarter of 2023, the Traffic Department of the Brussels Capital Ixelles police zone issued 24,114 fines for inappropriate speed in traffic”, announces the zone in a press release. Over this period, approximately 8.5 million vehicles were checked. These verbalizations were carried out following radar checks, with or without police personnel. But these figures do not take into account the drivers who have passed through the section radars in the Brussels tunnels.

“The excessive speed of 64 drivers resulted in the immediate withdrawal of the driving license for a period of 15 days, continues the zone. The highest measured speeds were recorded at places such as Avenue de Vilvorde (135km/h in a 50 zone), Avenue du Parc Royal (131km/h in a 50 zone) and Allée Verte (146km/h in a 50 zone).”
