A chase took place yesterday, Saturday, in Keserwan, specifically in the Ghosta area, where security forces pursued a suspected car. As a result of the chase, the driver of the car lost the ability to control it and deviated from the road at the entrance to the town.
Security forces cordoned off the scene with the help of members of the municipality and residents who rushed to the scene at around 4:00 pm yesterday.
It turned out that there were two Lebanese young men in the car who were in possession of large quantities of various types of drugs, but they miraculously survived the accident. They were immediately arrested and the car was later recovered.
As a result of preliminary investigations and information provided to Lebanon Debate, it was learned that one of them is a resident of the Ghadir area, Keserwan district.
In contact with the Mayor, Engineer Ziad Shalfoun, he confirmed the incident to the “Lebanon Debate” website, and considered that “what happened is an important security achievement to protect the youth of the region from drugs because they destroy society and the family, and I regret the involvement of some young people in these activities that are foreign to the culture of our people and our upbringing.”
Shalfon concluded: “I thank the security forces for their follow-up, and I thank the employees of the municipality, the police officers, and all the benevolent citizens who work for the public good.”
