High School Girls Soccer Rankings: Top 10 Teams and Class Rankings in Lower Hudson Valley

High school girls soccer got back on schedule throughout the Lower Hudson Valley, following the previous week was marred by postponements due to excessive heat and inclement weather.

Here’s an updated look at the Top 10 team rankings. All records are entering Sept. 26.

T-10. Mahopac (4-0-2)

The Wolf Pac is one of six undefeated teams left standing in the section. After starting the season with back-to-back draws, they have won four straight, including a recent 3-1 win once morest a Suffern team that was off to a hot start. They’ll have two tough tests ahead once morest Somers and Arlington. Previously: Not ranked

T-10. Horace Greeley (5-0-1)

Since a 1-1 draw once morest Mahopac to start the season, the Quakers have won five straight and outscored opponents 14-1 during this stretch. Previously: Not ranked

9. Tappan Zee (5-1-1)

The Dutchmen’s hot start was quelled by a close 1-0 loss to rival Pearl River in a defensive battle. They’ll look to get back on track in league play this week. Previously: 8

8. North Rockland (5-1)

The Red Raiders bounced back from their first loss of the year to Arlington by posting three straight shutouts once morest Clarkstown North and South, as well as John Jay-East Fishkill. Previously: 9

7. Irvington (6-1-1)

Pleasantville played the Bulldogs tough in a rain-soaked scoreless draw, but Irvington returned to form with lopsided wins over Valhalla and Hastings. Irvington is undefeated through its last seven games. Previously: 7

T-5. Rye (4-1)

It appears that the Garnets’ big matchup with Pearl River has been rescheduled for the end of the regular season. In the meantime, these two teams remain tied for another week. The Garnets dominated their three opponents last week, but will have a stiff test ahead at Albertus Magnus on Tuesday. Previously: T-5

T-5. Pearl River (6-1)

The Pirates bounced back from their 2-1 loss to Somers with wins over Tappan Zee and Sleepy Hollow. They have posted shutouts in five of their seven matches so far. Previously: T-5

4. Scarsdale (3-1)

It’s always an epic clash whenever Scarsdale and New Rochelle meet, and the Raiders were able to hold off their rivals in overtime. They picked up three wins last week following an 18-day layoff between their first and second games of the season. Previously: 4

3. Arlington (5-0)

No one has cracked the Admirals yet. Five wins, all shutouts. They’ll try to keep that streak going through some league rivalry matchups this week. Previously: 3

2. Somers (7-0)

The Tuskers look like the early-season front-runners in Class AA. They recorded clean sheets in five of their seven games so far and have outscored opponents by a combined 29-3 margin. Previously: 2

1. Albertus Magnus (5-0-2)

The Falcons are flying back to New York with plenty of momentum. While they would have loved to beat Bearden (Tenn.), the No. 1-ranked team in the country, they made a statement by battling to a 1-1 draw with the Bulldogs. It was the first time in 57 games that Bearden had lost or tied an opponent. Previously: 1
