As a result, the steps to request collective action before the Court once morest the Montreal billionaire will have to be started once more.
This decision was made due to an issue of apparent bias raised by counsel for the alleged victims.
Judge Donald Bisson has decided to withdraw from the case, we are talking here regarding a multi-million dollar class action claim once morest this man, Robert Miller, who allegedly paid women, including teenage girls, for sex.
In return, he would have offered them up to $1500 in money from the meeting in addition to offering them gifts.
Some of these women would have entrusted TVA Nouvelles with the progress of these meetings which took place in a hotel in downtown Montreal.
They would have been chosen and recruited to offer sexual services to the billionaire.
They are 28 new victims alleged to want to join the collective action.
The debate was supposed to start on Thursday, but obviously it will be delayed for several weeks because of this important outcome in connection with a change of judge.
In the meantime, Me Jeff Orenstein who represents the alleged victims has declared to TVA Nouvelles who wants to call Robert Miller to testify.
“That’s for sure [que je veux qu’il témoigne], there were seven motions (…) We have affidavits (sworn statements) already. I think it’s the truth and there are no questions for me”, Me Jeff Orenstein.
The billionaire’s lawyer, Me Karim Renno, and the lawyer for Futur Electronics (company founded by Robert Miller), Me Jean-Pierre Sheppard, did not want to comment.
