High Profile: Police Process 60 Arrest Warrants in Puerto Rico for Drug Trafficking and Illegal Weapons

This Wednesday morning, the Police processed 60 arrest warrants in 20 municipalities of Puerto Rico, following the filing of 231 charges in absentia once morest high-profile criminal subjects.

“Each of the people arrested are not drug addicts, they are people who are dedicated to the transfer and sale of illegal weapons to the underworld”Police Commissioner Antonio López Figueroa said at a press conference.

Figueroa Rodríguez was arrested last December by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Figueroa Rodríguez and his son-in-law José A. Torres Narváez, alias “Beto,” who allegedly operates as a gunman, were released from prison to be processed locally for the new charges.

The operation, which was carried out by the Superintendence of Special Operations (SAOE), also managed to impact two other organizations. One of these is dedicated to the distribution of drugs on a large scale, acting as a wholesaler within the distribution chain. Their packaging bears the distinctive logo of a well-known motor vehicle brand. The third organization calls itself 11th Street (Eleventh Street), whose members promote their sales through social networks and make deliveries like delivery throughout the entire island.

The municipalities affected in the operation are: San Juan, Bayamon, Carolina, Guaynabo, Dorado, Toa Alta and Toa Baja, Canovanas, Caguas, Gurabo, Naranjito, Humacao, Aibonito, Barceloneta, Mayaguez, Cape Red, Añasco, Rincón, Aguada, San Sebastian.
