The two main labor unions in Nigeria, initiators of demonstrations on Wednesday against the high cost of living, announced Thursday that they would suspend their action after talks with the presidency.

Thousands of workers marched in several major cities across the country, at the call of the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to protest runaway inflation caused by new President Bola Tinubu’s decision to end fuel subsidies.
