2023-07-03 07:00:00

Transport company Mattson Akeri from Gothenburg is testing a Volvo FH Electric in what is known as high-capacity transport (HCT). With two trailers, the truck is 32 meters long and can handle a total combination weight of 74 tons. The vehicle is used in the port area of the city. During the driver’s break, the Volvo FH Electric 6X4 is charged with green electricity using two 180 kW fast chargers from the forwarding company and is in use for up to twelve hours. In the long term, the long truck will also travel between Gothenburg and the city of Boras, 70 kilometers away.

There are a number of ongoing and planned HCT projects in Europe. An example is Finland, where driving with 76 ton GVW and 34.5 meter long truck combinations is allowed on most roads. In Sweden, 74 tons are allowed on parts of the road network and up to 100 tons in places with the permission of the authorities. (awm)
