HiDock configures the macOS Dock differently for each screen

HiDock is a new free utility that brings some flexibility to managing the macOS Dock. The application allows you to configure the Dock differently between the internal screen of a MacBook and an external screen.

In the example above, I made sure that the Dock is automatically hidden (it appears when you approach the cursor near the bottom edge) when I use my MacBook on its own, that it appears to the right of the external screen when it’s the only screen used (by connecting the MacBook with the internal screen closed) and that it is on the left of the screen when I use several screens at the same time. HiDock also allows you to individually adjust the size of the Dock.

Important clarification: contrary to what the presentation of the Multiple Displays configuration may suggest, HiDock does not allow the Dock to be displayed on two screens at the same time, it is either the internal screen or the external screen (it’s up to you). choose in System Settings > Monitors > Organiser).

Developer Rafael Conde Explain having created this app because he wanted his Dock to be hidden when he uses his MacBook alone, but visible when he connects it to an external screen, a preference which forces him to go through the Dock options each time without HiDock. The utility, which has two fun “features” that we’ll let you discover, requires macOS Monterey (macOS 12) at a minimum.
