Hideo Kojima on Death Stranding: “Almost no one understood it”

Release projects Hideo Kojima traditionally provokes a wave of discussion among gamers, who often do not agree. So it was with the release Metal Gear Solid and recent Death Stranding for PS4which subsequently appeared on PS5 and PC.

On Twitter, the Japanese game designer shared an interesting observation regarding his creations. He believes that few people understood Death Stranding at the start, and it will take years before this changes. The quote is below.

“When I planned Metal Gear, where you have to dodge combat, almost no one understood this. It was the same with Snatcher, which added action to the adventure game; Boktai, a portable console project that needs to be played outdoors using a light sensor; and Death Stranding, a delivery game with slow gameplay.

It will be three to five years before they are universally recognized and re-evaluated.”

As another work of Kojima, I would like to mention Metal Gear Solid 2 as an example of a game that was subsequently re-evaluated by users and elevated to cult status over the years.
