Drivers filmed with dash cams
Hiddenhausen (NRW) – What madness! In a tranquil housing estate in Hiddenhausen (Herford district), a motorcycle racer (23) killed a resident († 58) in the evening.
According to the police, the driver involved in the accident and another biker had raced through the street several times with their heavy machines (taped number plates).
Several residents had already called the police and complained regarding the noise. In the past few weeks there have been repeated complaints regarding two bikers to the police.
Even before the police officers arrived, resident Heinz-Dieter O. went to Obere Talstrasse at around 10:10 p.m. and wanted to “slow down” the speeders with hand signals. When he had just entered the road, a biker with his Honda CBF 600 (136 hp) overtook the other motorcycle.
Heinz-Dieter O. was caught and thrown through the air. He died at the scene of the accident. The biker fell and was seriously injured. He is in mortal danger. His buddy sped away. A search has so far been unsuccessful. However, investigators already have many clues as to who they are looking for.
According to the police, the bikers had apparently filmed their rides with dashcams. “The evaluation of a camera found on site is currently ongoing,” said a spokesman.
Local residents and the family of the deceased had to be cared for by emergency chaplains. A recording team from Münster arrived to record the accident, which secured tracks and documented the scene of the accident until the night.
