Experts have warned that millions of people around the world are at risk of high blood cholesterol levels without being aware of it.

High cholesterol usually does not cause symptoms that help the patient pay attention and rectify the situation immediately, according to the “Mirror” website.

“If there are white or yellow lumps near the eyelids or nose, this might be a sign of high cholesterol,” said Dr. Rachel Ward, a cardiovascular specialist.
She explained that these lumps are called xanthelasma deposits, and they can be an indication of high cholesterol in the blood.
Xanthelasma refers to the appearance of a slightly raised or flat yellow area around the eyes or near the nose. These deposits are caused by a buildup of cholesterol under the skin.
Studies have revealed that regarding half of the people with xanthelasma have elevated levels of cholesterol in their blood.
High cholesterol can also cause a blue, white or light gray ring to form around the outside of the front of the eye, specifically in the iris (the colored part of the eye).
High cholesterol can also cause what’s called retinal vein occlusion, which is a blockage in the blood vessels that supply the retina, and can lead to sudden and serious vision problems.
The reason is that a blockage in a vein that drains blood from the eye contributes to the leakage of blood and other fluids into the retina, causing bruising, swelling, and a lack of oxygen.
It is worth noting that foods rich in fat directly and mainly affect cholesterol levels, so you should avoid eating them as much as possible, such as red meat, margarine, cream, cream, biscuits, and foods that contain coconut oil or palm oil.
Regular eye exams and measurement of cholesterol levels are among the most important procedures to follow to detect high cholesterol.
