HAMAS in Lebanon on Saturday (5/10) morning confirmed the death of a senior commander of the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, in an Israeli air strike on the Beddawi refugee camp in northern Lebanon. The airstrike hit the residence of Saeed Ali, a top commander in the al-Qassam Brigades, according to an Anadolu correspondent.
The bombing not only resulted in Ali’s death. His wife, Shaimaa Khalil Azzam, and their two daughters, Zeinab and Fatima, also lost their lives.
“Israeli airstrikes hit Saeed Ali’s residence causing him and his family to be martyred,” Hamas said in a statement.

“The Israeli leadership will bear the consequences of the criminal decisions they took against our people,” the group said.

Since conflict broke out between Hezbollah and Israel in October 2023, Israel has launched a series of airstrikes against Hamas officials and al-Qassam members in Lebanon.

One of the most prominent attacks was the killing of Saleh al-Arouri, deputy leader of Hamas, on January 2, 2024 in a drone strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Hezbollah and Israel have been involved in a cross-border war since Israel began pounding Gaza, killing more than 41,800 people, mostly women and children, following the Palestinian Hamas group’s attack on Israel in October 2023.
At least 2,011 people were killed, more than 9,500 were injured, and 1.2 million others were displaced, according to Lebanese authorities.
The international community has warned that an Israeli attack on Lebanon could escalate the Gaza conflict into a wider regional war. (Ant/Z-2)
