New Delhi: A cleaning worker was arrested for capturing the footage of the girls’ washroom with a hidden camera in Delhi’s IIT. The action was taken following the complaint of the students of Delhi Bharti College. The complaint was made by 10 female students who came to IIT to participate in the fashion show. The complaint is that the footage was captured on a hidden camera while using the washroom.
In a video shared on social media, the students alleged that no action was taken by the authorities despite filing a complaint. Then a complaint was lodged at the Kishangarh police station. The police said that a 20-year-old man was arrested and a case was registered under IPC section 354C.
Meanwhile, the IIT has expressed regret for the ordeal faced by the students. Officials also informed that a complaint was filed with the police as soon as they got to know the information. The accused is an employee working on contract basis in the institution. IIT said in a statement that he was dismissed from his job as soon as the information came to light. The investigation into the incident is in progress.
