Founder of the social cooperatives Lo Yeti and Ermes, the latter active among and with Roma families, professional educator well known and active in the world of the third sector, libertarian, anti-militarist and anti-authoritarian militant, Salvatore Di Maggio, 55, died in the evening of March 18 following the fire of his apartment in Torre Gaia, while his wife and fifteen-year-old son managed to save themselves. “How much we will miss him” reads the social page of the Ermes volunteers.
An immense pain! An absurd tragedy took Salvo away from us today. Irreplaceable friend and brother. With him we shared a thousand paths with love, including the Yeti that we founded together twenty years ago. Without rhetoric, anyone who knew him knows it, a person capable of listening, good and so reserved that to find a photo of him we scrolled through the gallery up to nine years ago. How much we will miss him”, write his Yeti companions. “Salvo was not interested in imposing thought: he shared the tools necessary to make his own, independent one. When he came across the intelligence of others, especially the younger ones, Salvo’s eyes sparkled and he went out of his way to make it fully expressed. Salvo built New Humanity every day”, the greeting of Daniele dello Yeti.
