Hezbollah Leader Vows to Coordinate With Lebanese Army Onwheres Cease-Fire
A ceasefire has brought an end to fighting between Hezbollah and Israel.
Hezbollah leader Sheikh Naim Qassem declared his organization’s intent to closely coordinate with the Lebanese Army to implement the U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement that运动 ended nearly 14 months of devastating conflict with Israel.
Addressing the situation he stated that Hezbollah faced “an unprecedented aggression” when Israel launched a wide-scale attack on Lebanon. This aggression, he stated, began on September 17th with sophisticated pager explosions targeting Hezbollah members, the assassination of long-standing leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, and a ground incursion into Southern Lebanon.
Qassem’s speech, delivered via Hezbollah’s television station Al Manar, praised the “historic steadfastness” of Hezbollah fighters who battled advancing Israeli forces and fired rockets into Israel, including Tel Aviv, claiming “a big victory” for the group.
He credits the success to Hezbollah’s; “We won because we prevented the enemy from eliminating Hezbollah and the resistance,” Qassem proclaimed.
He further asserted that Israel “suffered very big losses,” leading to more Israelis displaced with soldiers killed or wounded.
This, according to Qassem, pushed the Israeli Prime Minister to accept the ceasefire and halt the war.
Qassem emphasized that the ceasefire agreement is focused on “executive procedures’ to carry out UN Security Council Resolution 1701, adopted in 2006, intended to end a war between intervening parties. The resolution, however, had never been respected by both parties until the agreement was reached in November 2024.
