Hezbollah Members and Civilians Killed in Israeli Air Strikes in Southern Lebanon

Marjayoun, South Lebanon, February 29, 2024 (Xinhua) Three Hezbollah members and an elderly couple were killed and seven civilians were wounded today (Thursday) in Israeli air strikes that targeted several villages in the border region of southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military and medical sources.

The sources told Xinhua News Agency that three Hezbollah members were killed and two civilians were wounded in a raid carried out by an Israeli march on the town of Blida in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon.

An elderly man and his wife were also killed and five other civilians were wounded as a result of successive raids carried out by Israeli warplanes, during which eight air-to-surface missiles were fired at the towns of Siddiqin, Kafra and Ramiyah in the central sector of the border region in southern Lebanon, according to the sources.

The sources added that the raids led to the destruction of 11 homes and seven cars and damage to 28 homes.

Official sources in the Civil Defense told Xinhua that members of the Civil Defense and the Islamic Health Authority went to the towns of Blida, Ramia, Siddiqin and Kafra, equipped with several bulldozers and cranes, and worked to remove the rubble and recover the injured, and ambulances transported the bodies and injured to Bint Jbeil Governmental Hospital.

In addition, the Israeli army launched an attack to remove the “threat” in the Mays al-Jabal area, according to the military spokesman, who indicated that firing operations were observed towards the Gorin area, without causing any casualties, while the army forces attacked the source of the fire.

The border between Lebanon and Israel has witnessed exchanges of gunfire and bombardment between Hezbollah and armed factions on the one hand and the Israeli army on the other since the outbreak of war between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel in the Gaza Strip on October 7th.
