BEIRUT/JERUSALEM (Archyde.com) – Israeli forces and militants of the Lebanese Hezbollah group exchanged fire on Sunday across the Israeli-Lebanese border for the third day in a row, while Israel said that a number of its soldiers were wounded following the collapse of the truce with militants of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza.

The Israeli army said that its soldiers suffered “minor injuries” when an anti-tank missile fired from Lebanon hit a vehicle in the Beit Hillel area in northern Israel.

The army added in a statement that Israeli forces responded with artillery fire.

Iran-backed Hezbollah said it targeted a number of Israeli sites with what it called appropriate weapons.

Since the outbreak of war between Hamas and Israel last month, Hezbollah has launched almost daily missile attacks on Israeli positions on the border, while Israel launches air and artillery strikes on southern Lebanon. But the border was largely calm during a week-long truce in Gaza that collapsed on Friday.

This is the worst fighting since the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas.

Reports stated that the number of deaths during these hostilities exceeded 100, including 83 Hezbollah fighters. The exchange of fire led to the flight of tens of thousands of residents on both sides of the border.
