The head of the Shiite Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah, has threatened Israel and the USA.
At the same time, he announced that Hezbollah would not intervene in the Gaza war.
It was Nasrallah’s first public statement since the terrorist attack, which Israeli officials said left more than 1,400 people dead.
There Boss the Shiite Hezbollah militia In Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah has threatened Israel but has not announced his militia’s intervention in the Gaza war. In a lengthy speech on Friday, Nasrallah praised Hamas’ Oct. 7 terror attack, saying it was the result of Palestinian planning and implementation. He indicated that his militia was not involved in the attack.
It was Nasrallah’s first public statement since the terrorist attack, which Israeli officials said left more than 1,400 people dead. Israel responded with massive attacks on the Gaza Strip – including with ground troops – which, according to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, have so far cost the lives of more than 9,200 Palestinians. At the same time, there was mutual fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces. Hamas leaders have urged Hezbollah to become even more involved in the war. Nasrallah’s speech was therefore eagerly awaited.
Hezbollah boss makes fun of Israel
The Hezbollah chief said that with its attack, Hamas had proven that Israel was “weaker than a spider’s web.” Israel has achieved nothing with its four-week attacks on the Gaza Strip. Hezbollah itself is engaged in unprecedented cross-border fighting with Israel, Nasrallah said, threatening escalation. The fighting on the Lebanese-Israeli border would “not remain limited to the current extent”.
However, he did not announce that Hezbollah had intervened in the war between Israel and Hamas. “Some say I will announce that we have entered the battle,” Nasrallah said. “We entered the battle on October 8th.” Hezbollah’s cross-border attacks have forced Israel to move forces to the Lebanese border that would otherwise have focused on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“Your fleets in the Mediterranean do not frighten us”
Regarding US warnings to stay out of the war between Israel and Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, Nasrallah said Hezbollah would not be deterred. “Your fleets in the Mediterranean do not frighten us,” he said. Hezbollah is prepared for anything.
Nasrallah also criticized the US’s strong support for Israel. US President Joe Biden claimed without evidence that Hamas was cutting off children’s heads, but remained silent regarding the thousands of children in the Gaza Strip who have been beheaded and torn apart by Israeli bombings.
