Tottenham Hotspur‘s Heung-Min Son provided his third assist in the English Premier League, contributing to his team’s ongoing undefeated run.
Son began the EPL’s 21st round away fixture against Watford at Vicarage Road, England. In the second half, with the score tied 0-0, he skillfully delivered a free kick, setting up Davinson Sanchez for a decisive header.
This marked Son Heung-min‘s third league assist this campaign.
Son Heung-min has amassed an impressive eight goals and three assists solely in the EPL this season, and a total of nine goals and four assists when including the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Tottenham secured a narrow 1-0 triumph over Watford, thanks to a dramatic game-winning strike in the 51st minute.
This victory extended Tottenham Hotspur’s unbeaten streak to eight consecutive league matches (five wins, three draws) since Antonio Conte’s appointment as manager. They climbed to sixth place in the standings (33 points; 10 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses).
Conversely, Watford, suffering their sixth straight defeat, languished in 17th place (13 points; 4 wins, 1 draw, 13 losses).
Tottenham dominated possession in the opening period but failed to capitalize on their opportunities.
In the 19th minute, Harry Kane’s powerful right-footed attempt from outside the box was comfortably saved by Watford’s goalkeeper, Daniel Bachman. Similarly, Sergio Reguilon’s left-footed shot in the 26th minute proved unsuccessful.
A defensive lapse by Watford in the 31st minute presented Kane with a chance, but his right-footed effort missed the target. Nine minutes later, Pierre-Emil Hoybjerg’s header also failed to find the back of the net.
Watford’s counterattacks posed little threat, with Joshua King’s shot being thwarted by Tottenham’s goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, in the ninth minute.
The stalemate persisted until the second half, with Tottenham maintaining their attacking pressure.
In the 22nd minute of the second half, Son Heung-min attempted a spectacular back-heel shot from close range, but his effort was off target.
Five minutes later, Bachman secured Son’s volley following a pass from Lucas Moura.
Play was momentarily halted in the 41st minute due to a spectator emergency, resulting in an eight-minute stoppage in time.
The much-awaited goal finally arrived during added time.
In the 51st minute, Son Heung-min’s perfectly executed free kick from the left wing was expertly headed home by Sanchez, securing a one-goal victory.
Following the match, WhoScore.com awarded Son Heung-min an impressive 8.1 rating, the highest among both teams’ players.
