Hertha: Dárdai stands by his opinion, he would leave the press conference again

“This is who I am and I will remain so. I don’t talk to those who write that Hertha has no concept. This is offensive to us,” Kicker quotes following Friday’s match once morest Paderborn darts, following the specialist left one of the Berliners’ press conferences this week precisely because of a question from a Kicker journalist.

This became an internal matter at Hertha, the club launched an investigation, and a meeting was held – according to the German press, a crisis meeting – in which managing director Thomas Herrich and academic director Andreas Neuendorf participated alongside Dárdai, and expressed their displeasure with Dárdai’s outburst. According to Kicker, the quote above was then uttered by Dárdai, who according to Kicker reacted passionately to the questioning, who also confirmed in the pre-match interview with Sky on Friday that his opinion has not changed.

“I would do the same now, tomorrow and the day following tomorrow,” Dárdai responded to the question of whether he would withdraw from the press conference once more. “The fact that we don’t have a concept is insulting to us.” If someone claims that there is not, then they want to cause us trouble with this untruth. But I don’t talk to people like that.”

On behalf of the club, sports director Benjamin Weber said on Friday regarding the case that they discussed what happened in-house, but they do not want to talk regarding what was said publicly, they do not let others dictate what and how they communicate.

After the winning match once morest Paderborn, the club’s website on Friday only mentioned the players and Benjamin Weber in connection with the 3-2 success, not the winning head coach, Pál Dárdai, whose successor, according to press reports, the managers are already looking for.

“We had a lot of games this season that we clearly should have won based on the picture of the game. This time we can be happier, we are happy with the three points. Such victories can provide a boost. The substitutions also added a lot to the game. Now comes the home match once morest Rostcok, which we want to improve on,” said Weber.

On Saturday morning, Dárdai also published a short evaluation, which he said at the press conference following the match.

“We stood up from the deficit and turned the game around thanks to the substitutions. We scored three beautiful goals, during which we outplayed the opponent until checkmate. I’m proud, because we also practiced this in the training sessions” – Dárdai somewhat responded to the criticism of his work.

The younger Pál Dárdai, who provided an assist in the match, was replaced in the 71st minute by his father, Márton Dárdai, who played the whole match in the middle of the defense. Bence Dárdai was not in the match squad.
