Hertha BSC: That’s behind Hertha’s goosebumps choreo in the Olympic Stadium Sports

Hertha plays 1:1 once morest Frankfurt, but the big winners are Berlin’s football fans. They present a sensational choreography in the first home game following Hertha’s 130th birthday on July 25th!

Hertha goalkeeper Oliver Christensen (23) raves following the final whistle: “That was super awesome!”

Before the kick-off, the east curve begins the choreo, drawing a huge image towards the stadium roof. It shows three generations. On the sofa, grandfather reads the history of the oldest Bundesliga club to his son and grandson (including German champions in 1930 and 1931), which was founded on July 25, 1892, shortly following a trip on the steamer “Hertha”.

Then the six most important chapters of the Hertha Bible are brought forward individually.

The chapters are each labeled: Our flag, Our successes, Berlin’s friends, Our city, Our curve, Our home.

What a blue and white sight! This choreography of the “East Curve Development District” was impressive

Our flag: The pure flag has been the official Hertha logo once more since summer 2013! The circle, which narrowed the flag in the meantime, was abolished once more by the club at the request of a large fan initiative.

Our achievements: Here Hanne Sobek is carried on the hands of the fans in a picture following winning the German Championship in 1930. In 1931, the Berliners brought the championship title back to the Spree.

Berlin’s friends: The goosebumps choreo took place now once morest Frankfurt on August 13, 2022. 46 years earlier – almost to the day – the deep fan friendship with KSC that has lasted to this day was formed. That’s why the logo of the second division club shines on the chapter “Berlin’s friends”.

Our city: Here, among other things, the Memorial Church and the Red Town Hall are shown. Should mean: Hertha is a club for all Berliners, whether from the east or west.

Our curve: Three different choreographies from the past are shown here. Hertha’s curve is always very committed and creative, supporting the team in all home and away games.

Our home: Hertha’s previous homes can be seen here. First and foremost the stadium at Gesundbrunnen (Plumpe), where it all began. The Olympic Stadium can be seen at the bottom.

A slogan winds its way around half of the stadium between the upper and lower ring: “The Berliners big and small swear by the club”. The fans sing for minutes: “Hertha BSC is the name of our club, it will always be Hertha BSC.”

Blue and white flags, which were previously placed on the many stadium seats, are waving almost all over the stadium. Great: almost the entire stadium is involved. Not just the east curve.

There is a mega atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium that quickly infects all Herthaners.

Even the pros are motivated, Suat Serdar scored in the 3rd minute to make it 1-0 in the fan chants.

Hertha President Kay Bernstein (41), formerly an ultra in the curve himself until 2006, to BILD: “This choreography makes me as proud as Bolle. I had goosebumps and shed a tear or two. Those were very emotional moments.”

A brilliant work from the Förderkreis East Curve.

Amber continues: “What is particularly noteworthy is that they started planning right following the relegation game in Hamburg. That shows the willingness to sacrifice. After relegation, it was immediately switched to positive thinking. After great choreos in the two previous games in Braunschweig and in the derby, this was the next strong sign from our fan scene! It puts a lot of time, work and love into it.”

Such a choreo lasts several weeks, which connects the fans with each other and which they set up without the help of the club.

But it costs not only time (e.g. the dress rehearsal took place in the stadium on Friday evening, all the flags were put in the stadium seats, flyers were printed and distributed before kick-off) but also money – this time a five-digit amount. The Förderkreis Ostkuene collects donations on their own website.
