A herniated disc in the lower back is one of the most common health problems that many people suffer from.
A herniated disc is accompanied by a number of painful symptoms, including:
1- Pain in the buttocks
A person may feel pain that gets worse at night or with certain movements, and the pain may get worse following standing or sitting, or when walking short distances
2- Severe pain in the shoulder
For a herniated disc in the neck, a pregnant woman will feel severe pain in the shoulder or arm, and this pain may spread to the arm or leg when the person coughs.
3- Tingling, soreness or burning in the affected area
People with a herniated disc experience diffuse numbness or tingling in the part of the body served by the affected nerves.
4- Unexplained muscle weakness
The muscles served by the affected nerves tend to weaken, and this can cause the affected person to stumble or affect their ability to lift or grasp objects.
To help prevent herniated disc, and protect once morest its annoying symptoms, the following steps can be taken:
1- Exercising: It helps to strengthen the muscles of the trunk and works to stabilize and support the spine.
2- Maintain a good posture: by reducing the pressure on the spine while keeping the back straight.
3- Maintain a healthy weight: Excess weight puts more pressure on the spine and discs, making it more likely to develop a hernia.
