Taxenbacher prevailed in the final in St. Jakob im Ahrntal ahead of two Tyroleans. Salzburg’s young talent also shone.
The starting position promised an exciting finale. Before the final competition in St. Jakob im Ahrntal, three rankers still had a chance of overall victory in the Alpine Cup. Hermann Höllwart from Taxenbach went into the last competition with a one point lead over his colleague Philip Holzer. But Stefan Gastl from Brixental also had hopes of winning the title.
Höllwart celebrated two class victories
While Gastl kept his chance with victory in Class II, the top duo faced each other in the final of Master Class I. Because of the faster winning time in the preliminary round, Höllwart was enough to win the class and extend his lead by one point. In the Hagmoar class, Holzer was eliminated in the opening round with a draw once morest Christopher Kendler from Saalbach. Höllwart, on the other hand, managed a lightning victory over Daniel Schager from Piesendorf, which gave him his tenth overall victory in the Alpine Cup. Gastl took advantage of a bye in the first round to ultimately secure second place (behind Höllwart) in the Hagmoar class and (on points with Holzer) in the overall ranking.
Six Salzburg victories in the youngsters
While no other Salzburg player ended up in the top 5 in the highest performance class other than Höllwart, the successes among the young talent gave hope for the future. Four of the five class victories went to Salzburg for the students: Phillip Scheiber (Leogang), Johann Moßhammer (Maria Alm), Thomas Dotter (Mittersill) and Alexander Hausbacher (Pongau). Raphael Gaschnitz from Piesendorf prevailed in the youth class up to 16 years, Simon Steiger from Bramberg up to 18 years. In Class III, Simon Blaickner from Bramberg led a Salzburg triple victory.
