Move to protect your health. To fight once morest the growing sedentary lifestyle in France, in particular with the generalization of telework linked to the pandemic of Covid-19regular physical activity is recommended.

For this, it is recommended to walk briskly for 45 minutes each day, or to break up this activity every hour for five minutes, according to a researcher at the CNRS whose words were relayed by The Dauphine Libere. “To see metabolic parameters improve, you have to both increase physical activity and reduce the time spent sitting,” she said.

The recommendations of the World Health Organization (OMS) in this regard are to exercise at least 30 minutes of physical activity at least five times a week for adults and one hour a day for children and adolescents.

95% of French people exposed to a health risk

According to the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (Considered), 95% of the French adult population is exposed to a risk of health deterioration due to a sedentary lifestyle. The latter represents a risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases, obesity and diabetes de type 2.

In its first global report on physical activity published in early November, the WHO estimates that nearly 500 million people will develop diseases due to physical inactivity between 2020 and 2030.

As a reminder, sedentary lifestyle and physical inactivity are two distinct terms. The first is defined by low energy expenditure, in a sitting or lying position. The second is characterized by an insufficient level of physical activity of moderate to high intensity, according to WHO recommendations.
