For the first evening of duels on “Masked Singers”, only investigator Mélissa Bédard was correct, on Sunday, in identifying who was hidden in Bébé Mammouth, the character having had to leave the competition at the end of the fourth episode of the season.

In fact, she had guessed who it was during her very first performance, two weeks ago.
As mentioned by Mélissa, it was indeed the horticulturist, presenter, author and storyteller Marthe Laverdière who carried the immense head of the pink pachyderm on her shoulders. The fluffy stuffed animal costume is, let us point out, the biggest to have paraded on the stage of “The Masked Singers” in four seasons.

Imagine, four members of the team were required to handle Baby Mammoth’s noggin because it is so imposing and heavy. The head didn’t go everywhere, that says it all!
“I was quite restricted in my movements! The challenge for me was not to mess up with my big head! I couldn’t bend over. I felt like I had my grandson Victor on my shoulders. It took someone with a very good back to support that!” said the friendly personality in an interview.
Sam Breton also mentioned Marthe Laverdière on Sunday, before setting his sights on Christine Morency.
If Mélissa Bédard hit the mark by recognizing her “great friend” from her first performance on “Miami”, by Ariane Moffatt, on September 22, it is perhaps because she came, a few days before the recordings of “Masked Singers”, to shoot an episode of “Planter with Marthe” with her. For the occasion, Marthe helped her set up a flower bed at her home.
Sunday, Bébé Mammouth performed another local hit, “Mentir”, by Marie-Mai. It was Betty Bett, with “Lady Marmalade”, by Nanette Workman, who obtained the most votes during their duel, then at the very end Miss Maïs, very vocal, won against Bébé Mammouth after singing “Summertime.”
Marthe and Mélissa, two accomplices
From their first meeting, Marthe Laverdière and Mélissa Bédard immediately hit it off, their energy, their joie de vivre and their madness matching perfectly with each other. Would Mélissa have recognized her own approach? This is what Marthe Laverdière believes.

“How I walk, how I move, she had just seen that,” said the horticulturist from Bellechasse, who loves Mélissa very much. “We are both hyperactive, so when we are close to each other, things move! The cameramen from “Planter avec Marthe” told us that it would be “fun” if we stayed in the camera frame!”

Marthe Laverdière was in the middle of filming “Planter avec Marthe” when she made two appearances on the set of “Masked Singers” last summer. Her busy schedule also included, at the same time, performances of her “Marthe Laverdière fait son show!” tour, for which she sold more than 100,000 tickets and which is competing for the show of the year prize at ADISQ. She also presented conferences, in short, she still has a lot of nerves in her nerves. Oh yes! “Planting with Marthe” has since been renewed for a second season.
