The race for the White House in 2024 between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is presented as one of the most contested in recent history.

A survey conducted by CNN and SSRS reveals that 48% of likely voters support Harris, while 47% prefer Trump, making it clear that there is no undisputed leader in the race. Compared to the other candidates, only a small percentage, 2%, lean towards the liberal Chase Oliver, and 1% towards the Green Party candidate, Jill Stein.

Currently, 72% of Trump supporters say they are voting more for him than against Harris, while 60% of Harris voters express positive support for her candidacy.

The survey also reveals that Harris has improved her public image. His approval rating has reached 46%, surpassing Trump, who has 42%.

This marks a significant shift in the perception of both candidates. While Trump is still seen as “too extreme” by 54% of voters, Harris maintains a more moderate profilewith only 42% perceiving it this way.

Independent voters are crucial in this raceand the poll shows a nearly even split: Harris receives 45% of their support to Trump’s 41%. Independent women tend to favor Harris 51% to 36%, while independent men lean toward Trump 47% to 40%. Among voters under 30, Harris is the clear front-runner, with 55% support..

The economy was seen as a key factor in voters’ decisions. Harris has gained ground on issues such as reproductive rights and protecting democracy. 52% of voters approve of her approach to abortion, compared with 31% who support Trump in this area.

The political climate also weighs on voters’ decisions. A large percentage say that The current tone of politics encourages violence, with 57% believing violence would intensify if Trump won, compared to 42% who believe the same about Harris.

As for the emotions that both candidates arouse, it seems that The fear of both of them winning is quite high. 47% of voters are afraid of a possible Trump victory, while 45% share that fear if Harris wins.

As Election Day approaches, both Harris and Trump continue to battle for support from an increasingly divided and passionate electorate. The race promises to be intense, with voter emotions reflecting the tense climate of current American politics. This poll of 2,074 registered voters reflects this, suggesting that anything can happen in the months ahead.
