Ilaria Salis began her pilgrimage in Turin between social centers and No Tav. Salis’ participation in the meeting “This night will not be short – for anti-fascist solidarity in Europe”, was reported as “a very serious fact”. The deputy group leader of the Brothers of Italy in the Chamber, Augusta Montaruli, also spoke about it this way: “The presence of Ilaria Salis in Askatasuna does not represent the visit of a European parliamentarian to any social centre, but to the house of violence and political hatred without never repentance. It is a very serious fact, perhaps hoped for by those who wanted an amnesty of that place, certainly harmful for those who believe in confrontation and not in ideological violence, used as a weapon of blackmail against the State”.
“We hope”, added Montaruli, “that all political forces want to distance themselves from the violent fringes of autonomous extremism, rather than chasing them and continuing to give legitimacy to those who attack the police and set our cities on fire , as happened in recent weeks”. Here is the appeal to the activist: “I invite Ilaria Salis to rethink her presence in that place, a symbol of abuse: it would confirm her membership of extremist fringes clearly seeking to attack the institutions, which have never repented and are therefore more dangerous than ever” .
