A couple will attempt to travel between the North Pole and the South Pole. What is special is that Chris and Julie Ramsey will embark on this adventure at the wheel of a Nissan Ariya. The manufacturer today unveiled the model that will serve the couple.
We guess it and we can see it, the latter has been highly modified for the occasion. The work was carried out by Arctic Trucks, which made sure to provide it with the necessary to face the different types of terrain that will come its way, among other things with huge 39-inch tires that are housed under modified wheel arches. . At the same time, Arctic Trucks, who worked with Nissan to prepare the vehicle, made every effort to keep it as original as possible.
The vehicle will travel between the Magnetic North Poles and the Magnetic South Poles. Along the way, he will be confronted with the cold, mountainous and rocky terrain, deserts where the heat will be suffocating, in short, everything will be on the menu.

The Modified 2023 Nissan Ariya – Profile
Besides the tires, the suspension has been modified to raise the ground clearance and strong skid plates have been installed under the model. Both bumpers are equipped with anchor points which can be used for transporting additional equipment.
What hasn’t been changed is the Ariya’s all-electric configuration. And this is where the challenge gets interesting. The electric SUV offers, in the original configuration, a range of approximately 490 km. However, with the tires and the modifications made, it will be much less. Add to that the extreme temperatures that will be encountered and in some places, the autonomy will be rather limited.

Which brings us to the next question; what regarding charging stations on the road? We guess that in many places, there will simply not be any. The organizers have of course planned the coup.
Nissan has developed a “portable renewable energy unit” that is mounted on a trailer. The facility includes a wind turbine and solar panels, so it should be able to recharge the Ariya’s battery when the driver and co-driver are on break.
The itinerary for the trip has not yet been released, but the trip is expected to begin in March.
