But what is it? Nothing to do with physique or style of dress, nothing to do with vocabulary or good manners either. The flirting technique that would work every time is unfortunately neither given to everyone, nor easy to acquire when you have little or none at all: humor.
Good news on the other hand for those who like to entertain the gallery since early childhood. According to a study published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology, making people laugh is the most powerful weapon of seduction that exists. To reach this conclusion, researchers from New York University and Bucknell joined forces to analyze the behavior of thousands of young people. Each was asked regarding their approach to flirting and what worked best on him or her. The element that comes back once more and once more without surprise: humor.
For 37% of respondents, humor is an essential element of flirting. “Which is most effective depends on your gender and whether the goal of flirting is a long-term or short-term relationship. […] But laughing or giggling at the other person’s jokes is an effective flirting tactic for both genders,” says study author Leif Edward Ottesen Kennair. The latter is a professor of psychology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
