Linky meter: watch out for fines!
The Linky meter is present in 35 millions of hearths. And yet, it continues to be debated. Many French people hate it to the highest degree. Indeed, the French tend to fear total remote control and the transmission of all their data. This is why today there are always 10% of customers who are reluctant to install the boxr. Eh yes ! So they refuse to install it for various reasons.
Among them are fraud cases. But also the fact that the Enedis group has therefore deactivated the signal sent to the hot water tanks between 12 and 2 p.m. Let’s not forget either the explosion of bills due to a connection problem with the Linky Meter. In short, this only makes the situation worse! And on the social networks, netizens are very angry. « Did you know that linky shuts off all hot water during off-peak midday hours? And this until March so large families to have hot water in the evening must turn on the meter”, “So there it is foutage of g…. ”, “so we will be forced to install this meter”.
However, l’Etat looking to install more meters. This is why the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE) wishes to impose a fine of 50 euros per year on all persons who refuse the installation of the Linky meter. That will take effect from January 1, 2023.
Tips to avoid being fined!
It is so the Enedis group which announced the news: “From January 1, 2023, Enedis will therefore invoice customers who refuse statements. For an annual amount of 61 euros. Or around 5 euros per month. It is up to them to (…) provide the Enedis group with a self-reading at least once a year” . One thing is certain, the year promises to be expensive for the 10% of customers Enedis who refused the installation of the Linky meter! But that’s not all ! From January 1, 2023, people who refuse the installation of the Linky meter will have to pay €8.48 on their invoice.
Be aware that customers who have not sent to Enedis a self-report of Last 12 months will also have to pay the fine. The Enedis group added on December 15: “ despite the sending of written communications and calls… They will be charged metering fees relating to the management of the succession of old generation meters. These costs are of course stopped in the event of the installation of a Linky meter… You should also know that in 2025, Enedis will therefore charge the costs “by reading the last old meters for customers without Linky… This can allow better management of their energy expenditure”.
But then the question arises, how to avoid receiving such a fine? You can avoid paying the additional cost by reading the meter’s consumption index yourself. The Energy Regulation Commission (CRE) asserts that the sending of a self-report by the customer sans Linky counter over the year can cancel all spawnss. This is therefore reassuring news for customers of the Linky meter. But also and above all for the protesters!
