We now know the first Xiaomi devices which will benefit from the new HyperOS overlay here in early 2024. Smartphones of course, but also a tablet.
At the end of October, after an announcement a few days earlier, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi unveiled its new HyperOS overlay, replacing MIUI. More than a new interface on smartphones, it aims to be deployed on the entire Xiaomi ecosystem and harmonize their operation. Televisions, connected watches, cars… This involves offering a unique system to, among other things, ensure better interoperability between Xiaomi devices. L’artificial intelligence is also involved in connected objects in particular. They will make decisions for you proactively for example.
On mobile, the innovations are still little known, but they start from installation since the system will take up less space than any other overlay. It will even be lighter than “stock” Android, 8,75 Go in total. We already know that the next Xiaomi 14 will feature HyperOS right out of the box, while other Chinese models will benefit from it around December this year. For a global version, you have to wait for the first half of 2024and we now know which devices will be served first.

Unsurprisingly, it is the latest Xiaomi smartphones (and a tablet) which are affected. We note the absence of the Xiaomi 11T Pro however. That doesn’t mean it won’t get HyperOS later, just like other models. Internally, developers are refining the overlay, as can be seen via the version numbers spotted on Xiaomi’s official servers. None displays 1.0, but rather 1.0.0.1 or 1.0.0.3 depending on the case.
The firm has still not confirmed a European release date for its Xiaomi 14. We will surely have to wait until February or March 2024, which could coincide with a simultaneous deployment of HyperOS on other smartphones. Answer, in theory, after the holidays.
