Under the title “Diversity of Life”, the STEIERMARK SCHAU 2023 is dedicated to the big questions of biodiversity and thus topics that might not be more topical. Among other things, it is regarding the preservation of habitats and the protection of biodiversity as well as the challenges that arise from human intervention in nature. The presentation in the mobile pavilion spans the spectrum from the regional to the planetary. Highly complex scientific findings are communicated in a comprehensible and informative way in connection with contemporary art using multimedia.
Open-air museum at Vienna’s Heldenplatz
Both the openness of the pavilion and the content of the exhibition aim to stimulate dialogue and place the current climate debate on a scientifically sound basis without polarizing. The presentation in the mobile pavilion of the STEIERMARK SCHAU poses essential questions that will determine our future: Who are we humans in relation to nature, to the diversity of life? She explores the question of where people are in the world. At the same time, she warns once morest overexploiting, polluting or destroying landscapes.
“The mobile pavilion at the STEIERMARK SCHAU is unique in Europe. It is an ideal mobile presentation space and allows the museum to leave its traditional rooms and enter the public space. In Vienna, as part of the prologue to the STEIERMARK SCHAU, we are presenting an open-air museum that is open to visitors: the inside of the pavilion is visible from the outside and is accessible from all sides.”
explains the curator Astrid Kury.
