Stroke, also called a “stroke”, occurs when a blood vessel is blocked or ruptured, usually due to a clot, and blood no longer flows to the brain. Depending on the area of the brain affected, the stroke can lead to more or less complete paralysis of one or more limbs of the body, speech and comprehension difficulties, and even memory problems. As common as myocardial infarction, stroke is the 3rd cause of death in France and the 2nd cause of dementia, indicates the Stroke Research Foundation. Surprisingly, it is possible to detect some warning signs and symptoms several days before the attack.
According to the observations of a London clinic (Cardiac Screen clinic), there are six signs, symptoms of a mini-stroke, which should alert patients. A week before the attack, 43% of the patients studied experienced headaches (1), dizziness (2), numbness or tingling in the limbs or face (3), mental confusion (4 ), muscle weakness in the arm or leg (5) and impaired visual field (6). “If you take note of these symptoms and seek help, even if they go away, then your chances of recovery are much better,” the clinic anticipates. Some people may experience these symptoms several days before a stroke occurs.
