**rashid Johnson**: Thanks for having me.



**archyde**: Your work is known for exploring themes of race, identity, and history through a unique and often immersive approach. What can you tell us about the experience you’re creating specifically for the Guggenheim’s rotunda?



**Rashid Johnson**: The Guggenheim’s architecture is so iconic, almost like a sculpture itself. I was drawn to the challenge of responding to its circular form and playing with the way visitors move through space.



**Archyde**: Can you give us a sneak peek into the themes your installation will explore?



**Rashid Johnson**: My work frequently enough looks at the African diaspora and the complexities of Black identity. While I won’t reveal everything, I can say this piece will delve into themes of memory, ancestral connections, and the ongoing search for belonging – all within the context of this exceptional architectural space.



**Archyde**: what can visitors expect from this exhibition? Should they come prepared for a particular type of experience?



**Rashid Johnson**: I hope visitors will come with an open mind and a willingness to be enveloped by the work. It’s meant to be immersive, to invite reflection and contemplation. There’s a strong visual and emotional component, but also intellectual depth.
