Authorities have identified the shooter who opened fire Saturday followingnoon at a campaign event for former U.S. President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Here are the latest developments:

1. Suspected Shooter

The FBI identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who lived in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, regarding 35 miles south of the rally site.

He died at the scene by agen Secret Service. Public records show he is registered as a Republican voter.

But he made small donations to Democratic-aligned groups in 2021.

2. Further Threats

Authorities said in a press conference that they do not currently believe there is an additional threat.

However, the investigation is still actively ongoing and it is too early to conclude that this was an attack by a lone attacker.

3. Victims

The shooting left one attendee dead and two others critically injured, authorities said.

4. Status Trump

A spokesman said Trump was “doing well,” and Secret Service confirming that he is safe.

The former president said on social media that he was hit above his right ear. In the early hours of Sunday, Trump flew back to Newark, New Jersey.

Several federal and state agencies are now investigating what happened, how the shooter accessed the location, what weapons were used, and other questions that have not been answered publicly.

6. Biden makes a quick comeback

President Joe Biden was in Delaware when the shooting occurred, where he planned to stay for the weekend — but he flew back to the White House early Sunday to continue notifying law enforcement.
