How did Herbert Diess come to VW?

Herbert Diess was appointed by the Volkswagen Group’s Supervisory Board as of July 1, 2015 to be a member of the Group’s Board of Management and Chairman of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars core brand. After studying engineering, Diess, who was born in Munich in 1958, had previously held positions at the automotive supplier Bosch and at BMW, most recently as a development director. He was appointed CEO of Volkswagen on April 13, 2018.
