Heptathlete Annik Kälin sets a new Swiss record

Swiss record and top place

World Cup exploit by heptathlete Kälin!

Annik Kälin shines at the World Championships in Eugene with a Swiss record in the heptathlon. The Grisons finished her first competition on the big stage with 6464 points. In the end, sixth place.

What a performance by Annik Kälin (22)! The young woman from Graubünden is not impressed by the big World Cup stage in Eugene (USA) and sets a new Swiss record in the heptathlon. In the two days of competition she shows an incredible consistency. Over 100 m hurdles she sets a new personal best in 13.17 seconds and Kälin completes the final 800 meter run in 2:17.49 minutes – also a new Swiss heptathlon record. With a score of 6464 points, she lands a strong sixth place at the World Cup.

The 22-year-old was thrown back by back pain in the 2021 Olympic year. She dropped out of the 2021 European Indoor Championships after the hurdles and was also unable to qualify for Tokyo. Now is back and stronger than ever. At the top, Nafissatou Thiam lives up to her role as a favourite. The Belgian wins the gold medal with a total of 6947 points.
