Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, most often caused by a virus. We know of five strains of this virus: hepatitis A, B, C, D and E, which vary in how they are transmitted, how they are treated, and how they affect health. According to the World Health Organization, different forms of hepatitis will kill 1.3 million people every year by 2022.
