LH Mikl-Leitner: Lower Austria a country of volunteers and volunteers

St. Polten (OTS) Whether Red Cross, fire brigade, mountain rescue or neighborhood help – thousands of people in Lower Austria volunteer in their free time for the general public. Yesterday Saturday evening in the auditorium in Grafenegg, some of them were awarded the Henri Volunteer Prize.

“Today’s event underscores the importance and importance of volunteering here in Lower Austria,” emphasized the governor in an interview with Claudio Sunk, the moderator of the event. “Around 800,000 people in our federal state are volunteers and are incredibly competent, passionate and enthusiastic regarding what they do. We need volunteers, we need volunteers, you are an incredible asset. The clubs are the lifelines of our communities and make them even more livable and lovable,” emphasized Mikl-Leitner.

“Lower Austria is a state in which volunteering is practiced and has a high priority,” explained Josef Schmoll, President of the Red Cross, who also emphasized: “With this award, we are bringing humanitarian commitment in the most diverse forms and characteristics to the forefront, to promote this to recognize great achievements”. Club Niederösterreich President Paul Nemecek said: “There are numerous communities and also many entrepreneurs who have recognized the social value of volunteer work and ensure good framework conditions.” NV Director General Stefan Jauk explained: “Volunteer work in Lower Austria and in Austria is indispensable and very valuable for social interaction. Niederösterreichische Versicherung is a long-standing partner of the Red Cross and other voluntary organizations.”

The Lower Austrian Volunteer Award “Henri” aims to raise awareness of the relevance of voluntary and honorary services and to present exemplary efforts to a broad public. It was advertised in four price categories to show the range of civil society commitment in Lower Austria. The 149 submissions were of high quality and varied – the winners were determined in a jury session in which all partner organizations, sponsors, the Red Cross and the Club of Lower Austria had a vote. Finally, Bruno Hoffmann, the community of Senftenberg, the company Kastner and the crisis intervention team from Gmünd were happy regarding winning the “Henri” and received the trophy and certificate.

“Henri. The Volunteer Award is a joint project of the Red Cross Lower Austria and Club Lower Austria as well as partner organizations. It has been awarded every two years since 2016 in four categories – companies, individuals, communities and groups/initiatives. This award is made possible thanks to the support of Niederösterreichische Versicherung, Raiffeisen-Holding Niederösterreich-Wien, the airport in Schwechat and the Lower Austrian construction and settlement cooperative.
