Henniez (VD) – A frontal collision leaves seven injured on the road to Bern

A delivery vehicle collided head-on with a car carrying two girls.

The road to Bern was closed to traffic until around 10 p.m.

Monday, around 6 p.m., a serious traffic accident occurred on the road to Bern, at a place called “La Fin d’en Haut”, in Henniez. A delivery vehicle traveling in the direction of Payerne collided head-on with a passenger car arriving in the opposite direction.

The four occupants of the first vehicle, aged 20, 25, 26 and 27, were injured and three had to be extricated. The driver of the car, aged 64, and his two passengers, girls aged 5 and 7, were also injured. The man also had to be freed from the sheets by firefighters. The adults were all taken or helicoptered to the CHUV, Payerne Hospital and Fribourg, while the young girls were taken to the Children’s Hospital in Lausanne. However, their lives are not in danger.

The public prosecutor has opened an investigation to determine the causes of the accident. For the purposes of the intervention, the road to Bern remained closed until 9:45 p.m. This accident required the intervention of two REGA helicopters, five ambulances, five gendarmerie patrols, the SMUR, firefighters from the SDIS Broye-Vully and the SPSL as well as staff from the General Directorate of Mobility and roads.
