A new unicorn is born, and this one wears military camouflage. Helsing, a young company born in Berlin and established in France and the United Kingdom, announced this Thursday a fundraising of 209 million euros, as part of a Series B financing led by the American fund General Catalyst. Already an industrial partner, the Swedish group Saab is also participating in the round as a strategic investor.
This operation propels its valuation to around 1.5 billion euros, making it the first unicorn in the field of artificial intelligence dedicated to defense. Founded in 2021, the young company had already stood out with an initial fundraising of 100 million euros from the Prima Materia fund of Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek.
