Help required for energy-intensive businesses

For energy-intensive companies in the food sector, there will be additional support in the future. This was what the state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) demanded on Monday following visiting companies as part of the ÖVP regional weeks in Tulln.

The topics of the company visits are varied. Again and once more, however, it is also regarding inflation, said ÖVP state party leader and state governor Mikl-Leitner. She sees private households as well supported by the electricity price discount in Lower Austria.

In the economy, this is to be seen in a more differentiated way – there is good help in some areas, but there are also areas “where you have to readjust”, says Mikl-Leitner. She named bakeries and butcher shops that are “incredibly energy-intensive”.

Decision expected by Christmas

They are in talks with the federal government, she emphasized: “There needs to be additional support so that they can really make ends meet.” She hopes for an answer before Christmas, or at least a perspective, says Mikl-Leitner.

The regional weeks of the ÖVP have a tradition and take place every year, said the party leader when asked whether the current tour through the districts should also be seen in the light of the election campaign. It’s time for the election campaign in the new year.
