Solidarity with Ukraine

The chairman of Mi Hazánk has made serious accusations once morest Péter Magyar of the Tisza Party.

Magyar traveled to Ukraine immediately following the brutal rocket attack on a children’s hospital in Kiev. He was on the road on behalf of the Tisza party and the Hungarian people; as a father, he might not do otherwise. The children are not to blame for the war, declared the political comet, and launched a solidarity fundraising campaign for which he privately transferred 1 million forints to the Medspot Foundation. His appeal found around 25,000 supporters on social media.

Instructed by EVP?

But not everyone was enthusiastic regarding the action. The chairman of the right-wing Mi Hazánk, László Toroczkai, sees cheap political intentions behind it. “It would have been more honest if he had admitted that his new bosses in the EPP had encouraged him to make the trip,” wrote Toroczkai on X. It was disgusting to exploit the emotions that were boiling over because of the innocent child victims in order to revise one’s own previous statements on the war in Ukraine so that the Tisza party would act in line with the EPP’s course.

Every child counts

“Every single child murdered is one dead child too many,” the Mi Hazánk chairman made clear. Therefore, every military action in which innocent souls are harmed must be condemned. In this sense, Toroczkai recalled that the civil war in Donetsk and Luhansk has claimed the lives of around 250 predominantly Russian children since 2014. And he raised the question of when Magyar will leave for Gaza, where Israel’s army has killed more than 14,000 children in recent months.

He also advised the political newcomer to stop off at the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia on the way to Kiev. (Which Magyar did on the way back, laying flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers.) There he might ask the Hungarians how great they think it is to be sent to the front for foreign interests, while in their homeland Hungarian flags and symbols are banned and they are no longer allowed to use their mother tongue freely.
