Hello Kitty is a very famous character worldwide that emerged almost five decades ago with the Japanese company Sanrio.
The character’s image appears on all kinds of items, from cars, trains, to airplanes, and is so famous that it even has more than four million followers on social networks like Instagram.
In the framework of its 50th anniversary, which is celebrated in November of this year, Jill Cook, executive of the company, revealed some details about this character.
Isn’t Hello Kitty a cat?
In an interview with Today, Cook said that Hello Kitty is not a cat, and is in fact a little girl who was born and raised in the suburbs of London.
“She has a mom, a dad, and a twin sister named Mimi who is also her best friend,” she added.
Similarly, I detail that Hello Kitty weighs the equivalent of three apples and is five meters tall, has a pet cat and a boyfriend.
“Her core message is friendship, kindness and inclusivity, and part of what has helped her transcend borders, languages and cultures is that she is understandable everywhere,” added Jill Cook.
Hello Kitty is present all over the world
In Mexico City alone, there are two Hello Kitty themed cafes, one is located in San Ángel, which was the first of its kind in Latin America and another very close to Plaza Carso.
Like this one, there is also one in Vancouver, Canada, in Singapore and another one in Irvine, California.
