Mountain rescuers, alpine police officers and the crew of the emergency helicopter rescued an injured person at an altitude of 1750 meters on Sunday. The 59-year-old Styrian was traveling with an acquaintance. From the Hofalm they started early in the morning to the summit of the Großer Pyhrgas, which they also reached. The accident happened on the descent, almost 500 meters below. The climber tripped and hit a rock, injuring his face and head.

His companion informed the emergency services and provided first aid until mountain rescuers and alpine police officers treated the injured person. Although it began to rain, rescue from the air was possible. The emergency helicopter team carried out a so-called “crash rescue” and flew the 59-year-old to a hospital.
