Helicopter mission after an accident involving five vehicles in Carinthia – Carinthia –

One person was injured in a traffic accident involving five vehicles on Saturday followingnoon. The accident happened on Mölltal Straße (B106) in the municipality of Reißeck (Spittal an der Drau district). According to the police, a 50-year-old driver had overlooked a stopped truck and a car behind it, and while avoiding it crashed into an oncoming car in the oncoming lane.

Around 11:20 a.m., a 30-year-old Carinthian stopped his truck on the B106 to turn left. A 43-year-old driver behind him also stopped. A 50-year-old car driver followed, who failed to see the two vehicles that were in a right-hand bend. To avoid a collision, he steered left but crashed into an oncoming car driven by a 53-year-old man. As a result of the collision, the 50-year-old’s vehicle was thrown once morest the car behind the truck. The oncoming car left the lane on the right following the collision. Another following car was damaged by flying vehicle parts.

The 53-year-old oncoming vehicle driver was injured in the collision and, following first aid, was flown to the Spittal an der Drau hospital with a rescue helicopter. All other drivers and passengers were uninjured. The B106 was closed to all traffic for regarding an hour.
